Our Vision

We envision being salt and light to our community — engaging our community through a loving presence and impacting lives through practical acts of kindness which in turn open the door to the gospel message. As the saying goes, people don’t care what you know until they know that you care. So, ultimately, we envision church and kingdom growth through gospel-sharing opportunities, all for the honor and glory of God.

Our Mission

To glorify God by impacting our community with Christlike love and the gospel.

Outreach Opportunities

Here are the different ways you may be able to get involved:

Caring for the Poor

On the first Friday of each month we partner with God’s Extended Hand in Downtown San Diego to minister to the homeless. We provide a worship service, prepare a meal, and feed “the least of these” with love and compassion.

Orphans Across the Border

We have a relationship with Lily of the Valley, a home for orphans in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. We aim at collecting and donating needed supplies and visiting the children to share Christ’s love.

Prayer Quilt

A prayer quilt is smaller in size than a bed quilt.  It is considered a lap quilt tied with heavy thread.  These threads are tied with a square knot by members of the  congregation following each worship service or by members of a Bible study or prayer group.  As each knot is tied, a silent prayer is offered for someone in special need.  The quilt is a gift of love and prayer.  It is a statement of our faith in God and our belief in His power to comfort, strengthen, and heal.  A quilt, no matter how simple, is a gift from the heart; and the gift is not about the quilt, it’s about the prayers.  In John 14:13 Jesus says, “and whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” Please consider tying a knot and lifting a prayer for someone in need the next time you join us for a worship service!

Public School Campus Outreach

Each Tuesday during the school year, we reach out to Grossmont High School, and every Thursday during the school year, we reach out to Helix High School, to share the love of Christ with young people in our local community. More information is available with Pastor Marttell at marttell@LakeMurrayStaff.org.

Alzheimer’s Care

Once a month we partner with LifeHouse San Diego to offer love and care to individuals hindered by Alzheimer’s Disease.

Ministry to Senior Citizens

  • Cottage House: Bible Study every Tuesday at 1:30 PM
  • County Mental Health: services on the 1st Sunday of every month at 3:45 PM
  • Thursday night Bible Study at the Benthins’ (7:00-9:00 PM)

West Africa

We are involved in ongoing work in a village in the bush of  West Africa.  In this village we work with an organization whose goal is to plant indigenous churches in the villages.  We are in the midst of a roughly 5 year relationship with our village in which we visit our village every year or so with a team from our church, financially support the ongoing work of the ministry in the village, and continually pray for the needs (spiritual and physical) of the village.

For more information about any of these outreach opportunities please contact the church office at (619) 460-6566 or info@lakemurraystaff.org.
