Sunday Follow-Up on John 3.1-21 October 13, 2014

This last Sunday we learned about the new birth in Jesus Christ as explained in Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus in John 3.1-21.  What a wonderful and crucial passage!  Here are the notes from Sunday: John 3 1-21 Insert.

I also recommended a book on the new birth.  It is called Finally Alive: What Happens When We Are Born Again and is written by John Piper.  There is a lot of wonderful truth in the pages of this book about what it means to be born again.

I am looking forward to continuing to work through John together next Sunday.

Sunday Follow-Up September 29, 2014

This last Sunday we looked at Jesus’ first miracle as he turned water into wine at a wedding in Cana.  We learned a number of truths about Jesus and who He is.  Here is the insert from Sunday’s bulletin with discussion questions: John 2 1-11 Insert.

Next week we will look at Jesus’ cleansing of the temple in John 2.12-25.

Sunday Follow-Up September 22, 2014

This last Sunday we looked at John 1.35-51 where we learned about how 5 of Jesus’ disciples came to Him.  In looking at this text we discovered several truths about followers of Jesus Christ.  Here are the sermon notes/discussion questions: John 1 35-51 Insert.

Also, don’t forget that there are now numerous booklets out in the lobby that cover multiple topics, and provide biblical and wise counsel.  All of the booklets are provided by an organization called the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation (CCEF) which is the pastoral counseling ministry out of Westminster Seminary Philadelphia.  Keep in mind that these booklets are not exhaustive by any means, and they are not meant to overly simplify issues that can be very complex.  They are simply meant to provide an entry-point into some godly thinking about certain areas of life that can be very difficult.  The booklets are FREE, so help yourselves.  If you want numerous copies of one of the booklets, please let me know, and I can get those for you.

Sunday Morning Follow-Up September 15, 2014

This last Sunday we covered the Gospel of John’s presentation of John the Baptist in John 1.19-34.  Here is the link to the sermon notes and small group questions if you need them this week: John 1 19-34 Insert.

We also ended the service with a new song this last Sunday called “Blest Be the Lamb.”  The song was originally done by a group called “Sojourn.”  If you would like to listen to the song online you can do so for free here.  You can also download/purchase the song (and the entire album) here.

I am looking forward to covering John 1.35-51 next week with everyone.
