Opportunity for Ministry! March 3, 2015

Hello Church Family:

There is an exciting opportunity to impact the lives of our little ones! Our children’s ministry has current openings for leaders and assistants; no experience is necessary—just a warm heart for service.

So I want to encourage you to pray over this opportunity to see if the Lord would lead you to serve in this ministry. I’m reminded of Naomi who guided her daughter-in-law, Ruth, to her redemptive rescue (Book of Ruth). Isn’t it amazing that God makes us a part of His grand story of redemption, and at the same time provides opportunities to be involved in each others’ individual stories as we point each other towards Christ?

Please pray. See if the Spirit might lead you to be a part of our little ones’ stories. God may have had you in mind since before creation for such a time as this; a time when He would use you as He used Naomi in another’s life; a time to lead another child to redemption in Christ. What an opportunity we have at hand!

If you have any questions, or if you’d like to serve and become a part of the spiritual formation of our children, please contact our Children’s Ministry Director, Sue Waugh, at the church office: 619-460-6566 or sue@lakemurraystaff.org. Thank you very much for seeking the Lord’s direction as you pray over this opportunity. God bless each of you.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Eph. 2:10, ESV).

Rejoicing in Christ,

Pastor Marttell

Sunday Follow-Up on John 14.1-31 March 2, 2015

On Sunday we had the privilege of learning about the blessings that Jesus gives us in His absence. He is still present with us, helping us obey Him by the Holy Spirit. Here is the bulletin insert from Sunday: John 14.1-31 Insert.

*IMPORTANT* Rummage Sale Update February 25, 2015

The weather this Saturday (February 28) will not be in our favor. A cold system is coming through San Diego, and plenty of rain is expected.

What this means for us:

We are postponing our rummage sale to Saturday, March 21.

If you were still planning on donating items today, it will actually be best if you hold on to your donations just a few more weeks (we’re trying to avoid having too many items in Fellowship Hall for an extended period of time). We will have one final collection day on Sunday, March 15.

Thank you for your support and understanding — you are a blessing from above!

In His service,
Pastor Marttell

New Booklets Available! January 28, 2015

For several months now there have been free booklets available in the foyer upstairs covering a wide range of topics. They are published by the Christian Counseling & Education Foundation (CCEF). I try to rotate in new topics and replenish depleted supplies every few months. Some new topics that are now available in the plastic display case are: “Peer Pressure,” “When the Money Runs Out,” “Hope for the Depressed,” “Freedom from Resentment,” “Help for the Caregiver,” and more. As usual the booklets are free!

Gospel of John Series Resumes on Sunday January 5, 2015

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.  After several weeks off, we will resume our journey through the Gospel of John this coming Sunday, January 11.  I am excited to look at Jesus’ healing of the blind man in chapter 9.  May God bless us as we study His Word together.
