Hebrews 5.11-6.12 Follow-up November 30, 2015

On Sunday we jumped back into the book of Hebrews as we looked at 5.11-6.12 where the author calls the church to grow up. He diagnosed their spiritual laziness and provided us with 3 things that lazy Christians need to hear. Here are the discussion questions: Hebrews 5.11-6.12 Notes.

Hebrews 4.14-5.10 Follow-up November 16, 2015

In Hebrews 4.14-5.10 the author finally introduces us to some of the basics of Jesus’ High Priestly ministry for us. We saw some of the fundamental requirements for a High Priest, how Jesus meets those requirements, and how this benefits us as Christians. Here are the notes from Sunday with some discussion questions: Hebrews 4.14-5.10 Notes.

Just a reminder that we will take a week off from Hebrews next Sunday in light of a missions Sunday on that day with a guest speaker.

Hebrews 4.1-13 Follow-up November 9, 2015

I really enjoyed this last Sunday as we were able to have the children and teens join us for the whole service. This is something we plan to do a few times each year. We all studied Hebrews 4.1-13 together and learned some wonderful truths about God’s rest that He offers to His people. If you need the discussion questions from the bulletin, here they are: Hebrews 4.1-13 Notes. We also gave the kids their own version of the sermon notes to help them follow along. If you would like a copy of the children’s notes to help you talk with them at home, here is a copy of those: Hebrews 4.1-13 Children’s Notes.

Hebrews 3.7-19 Follow-up November 2, 2015

This last Sunday we looked at Hebrews 3.7-19. In this text the author gives us 3 ways in which we can maintain a soft heart towards God. The author of Hebrews used the wilderness generation in Israel’s history as examples of hard-hearted people who started well, but finished poorly by hardening their hearts against God. We are called to be soft-hearted, or responsive, to God’s Word. Here are the notes from Sunday: Hebrews 3.7-19 Notes.

Also, since it is now November we have introduced a new passage from Hebrews to memorize. This month we will work on memorizing Hebrews 6.19-20.
