New Booklets Available! January 28, 2015

For several months now there have been free booklets available in the foyer upstairs covering a wide range of topics. They are published by the Christian Counseling & Education Foundation (CCEF). I try to rotate in new topics and replenish depleted supplies every few months. Some new topics that are now available in the plastic display case are: “Peer Pressure,” “When the Money Runs Out,” “Hope for the Depressed,” “Freedom from Resentment,” “Help for the Caregiver,” and more. As usual the booklets are free!

Sunday Follow-up from 1-25-15 January 26, 2015

This week in church we studied Jesus’ last debate with His Jewish opponents. We saw several things that unbelief lacks. The passage paints a very sad picture of unbelief, but a wonderful picture of our salvation. Here is the insert with study questions: John 10.22-42 Insert.

Next Sunday we will look at chapter 11 in John as Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead!

Sunday Follow-Up on John 10.1-21 January 19, 2015

What wonderful security we have with Jesus as our Good Shepherd! As we looked at John 10.1-21 on Sunday morning, I hope you were encouraged by Jesus’ message of security for His sheep. Here is the insert from Sunday’s bulletin: John 10.1-21 Insert.

If any of you are interested in the book recommended at the end of the sermon notes, you can check it out here.  All through the Bible shepherding is a metaphor for the leadership of God’s people.  This book goes into a lot of detail tracing this theme from Genesis to Revelation.  If this type of in-depth biblical study interests you, then I would encourage you to check out this book.

Next Sunday we plan to finish chapter 10 in John.

Sunday Follow-Up on John 9.1-41 January 12, 2015

Happy Monday everyone!  After a several week hiatus we jumped back into the Gospel of John this last Sunday. Jesus healed the man who was born blind, and then we learned about true sight and blindness in John 9.1-41. Here is the bulletin insert with discussion questions: John 9.1-41 Insert.

Next Sunday we plan to dive into John 10.1-21 as we see Jesus portrayed as our Good Shepherd.  Can’t wait!

Gospel of John Series Resumes on Sunday January 5, 2015

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.  After several weeks off, we will resume our journey through the Gospel of John this coming Sunday, January 11.  I am excited to look at Jesus’ healing of the blind man in chapter 9.  May God bless us as we study His Word together.
