Sunday Follow-Up on John 6.1-40 November 24, 2014

This last Sunday we studied John 6.1-40 where Jesus feeds the 5,000 and then begins to speak about the fact that he is the true bread of life. I know most small groups are probably not meeting this week with Thanksgiving on Thursday, but here is Sunday’s insert in case you still want to utilize the questions yourself: John 6.1-40 Insert.

Next Sunday we will finish John chapter 6.  Have a happy Thanksgiving!

New Song Preview November 19, 2014

This Sunday we will be singing a new song in church.  I will be preaching on John 6.1-40 where Jesus talks about being the bread of life.  This new song called Come to the Feast picks up on this theme and serves as a great invitation to the Lord’s Supper.  If you want to give the song a listen before we sing it together on Sunday, you can listen for free here.  You can also listen with a video of the lyrics here.

I am looking forward to worshiping with everyone on Sunday.

Sunday Follow-Up on John 5 November 17, 2014

On Sunday we looked at the fifth chapter in the Gospel of John.  We focused on verses 31-47 where Jesus tells the Jewish leaders that they have searched the Scriptures, yet still do not believe in Him.  They missed all the testimony about Jesus because they loved the approval of man more than the approval of God.  Here is Sunday’s bulletin insert to help with applying the text this week: John5.1-47 Insert.

Chapter 5 talks a lot about Jesus as the Son of God, and what that means.  We didn’t have that much time to get into that topic this on Sunday, but I did give a book recommendation on this topic if you would like to read more about it.  Here is the book info.

Next Sunday we will learn about John 6.1-40.

Persecution Sunday This Sunday November 5, 2014

Just a reminder that this Sunday will be a special Sunday where we focus on God’s people who are being persecuted for their faith around the world.  We will have a couple of guest speakers share during the services, and we will worship the God of the nations together.  Services will be at the usual times.  Hope to see you all there!

Sunday Follow-up on John 4.43-54 November 3, 2014

On Sunday we studied Jesus’ healing of the royal official’s son.  We saw how the man’s faith grew through his interaction with Jesus.  Our faith is often weak too, but we can come to the Lord with our weak faith.  Here are the sermon notes with discussion questions: John 4.43-54 Insert.

Remember, next Sunday we will take one week off from the book of John as we will be having a special service that will focus on the persecuted church around the world.  When we resume our study of John in 2 weeks we will cover all of chapter 5.
